‘Boutique hotel’ it may have been in the 80s but the hotel is now in need of a full refurb. We had a large but dingy bedroom with mushroom paint and largely bare walls. Tiny shower with malfunctioning dripping head. No bedside lights (though we were provided on request with lamps from the restaurant). Don’t-steal-me coathangers. The bathroom had badly sited holders for dispensers of a multi-purpose gel, instead of differentiated products. Although the hotel was fully booked, its restaurant is closed every Wednesday, so we had to put our wet walking boots on again and go out into the rain for dinner. Hotel is understaffed. Breakfast was quite good: properly served coffee, scrambled eggs, toaster available for bread.

The views from this hotel are amazing but everything else was a disappointment. We had upgraded to a deluxe room which was actually very basic. A bare room without bedside lamps or even a bedside table. It smelt very strongly of bleach - fortunately we were able to open the door to the terrace to air the room. The bathroom was in need of attention. Toilet flush about to drop off the wall, washbasin wouldn’t drain and excess wiring left in the light fittings. In our opinion this is not a 4 star hotel.

This hotel is built on several levels on one of the highest points of Spello and within the town walls. That means a lot of stairs/steep climbs to get to hotel and within the property itself, so be careful if you have mobility concerns. I don't believe there is an elevator if you need one. The Staff at the front desk are not very attentive or engaging, but everything else about this hotel is very good. The rooms are large, clean and very well equipped. The breakfast staff are great; they work hard to keep the plentiful offerings stocked and the area tidy.

This is only 1 of 2 hotels during my 7 week stay in Europe that beat my expectations! Just walk by this place and you'll want to stay there. I went in April 2023 so prices were low and I went with a room that had a very large shared patio with amazing views! Nobody else was using the patio so that didn't hurt my positive experience. Staff was very nice and a pleasure to see. Breakfast was included was a nice bonus! I had to book on their website (vs *********** or **********) but got a confirmation number and all worked out.

Beautiful location with the most lovely terrace with spectacular views, perfect for sitting with an Aperol Spritz. Yes, the room we had shared a terrace but no one was either side of us so not a problem. The room was very clean and a very comfortable bed. There is a little fridge but you need to hunt under the tv or you might miss it. We arrived too late to enjoy the pool and were leaving the next day. Great breakfast, lots of very fresh salad. The coffee machine at breakfast was initially a bit disappointing but the coffee was quite good. Really good location with a beautiful stroll into the town.

We have just spent a wonderful ten days at La Bastiglia and we’re looked after so kindly by the great team of young workers - Arianna, Chiara, Eri, Daniel, Mattia and one other whose name I lost - for whom nothing was too much trouble. Every morning and evening we were welcomed by their smiling faces and they helped to make our stay very special. We hope to return in the future.

Arrival at the hotel reception we were met by a rude lady that after asking for our passports, stated we could pick up them up three hours later. Said she needed to put in our information. Returned three hours later, it was still not ready. Paid extra for an updated/deluxe room with terrace. We received a tired old room that was not clean and a shared terrace with three other rooms. Weather was warm and air-conditioning was turned off. Went to the front desk and she refused to turn it on, said she was cold. She then said we could just open up the patio doors. Well, couldn't do that without hearing other guests on the shared patio or smelling smoke from their cigarettes. There was also a smoke stack from the kitchen on our patio which we smelled constantly. Not to mention it was not safe to have doors open with other guests having access. What a bad experience, avoid this hotel!!!

Wonderful structure located in the highest part of Spello from which you have a magnificent view, very convenient for going to the center on foot. We arrived at 3.30pm with online check-in which I highly recommend as the check-in operations upon arrival are already completed and we didn't waste any time, this method is really convenient and functional. We found a very welcoming place steeped in history. The view from our room was enchanting. Absolutely convenient parking even with suitcases, private outdoors with a plus of 5 euros/day, next to the entrance. If desired, there is also indoor parking for €15/day. Possibility of having an aperitif on the terrace from which there is an incredible view. Excellent and plentiful breakfast included in the price in a very beautiful, refined and welcoming space. We didn't use the spa services and the swimming pool but I'm sure they are up to par. The 4 of us (2 girls aged 9 and 12 + 2 adults) spent €250 for 1 night in a 35m2 deluxe room. Really highly recommended.
